RAF EngO Qualifications
 

I am looking to join the RAF as an Engineering Officer, but am currently only studying for a BEng, as opposed to an MEng. Will the service still be interested in me, and can anyone provide a web-page or similar literature to show that the RAF accepts BEng graduates? (Not just the rafcareers website please.)

A BEng is fine (I am an EngO). What are you studying???

Movadinkampa747, thanks for your reply. However, the first chap you linked to, the Civil Eng, was listed as being a Pilot trainee at Cranwell, and the other just said Pilot Officer, so could be any trade.

Who's afraid, I'm studying Mechanical at the moment.

Is there a definitive publication, perhaps one that I could get hold of through the UAS, that outlines the services requirements?

I was just looking into this myself only a couple of days ago. You say that you have access to the UAS. If you can get access to the RAF Intranet, the qualifications are laid out in RAF Publications/Personnel/Officers and Airmen aircrew terms of service.

Alternatively contact the Engineers Liaison Team at RAF Cranwell (Tel: 01400 266891, or Email: [email protected]). Their role is to promote RAF engineering through the universities and will be able to provide you with the definitive answer. They also do monthly tours for prospective candidates outlining what to expect at OASC/IOT/EST.

But to answer your original question, Yes a BEng is fine.

Scorpy, thanks very much, just what I was hoping for. I haven't had a chance to check out the Intranet yet (still cooking baked-beans at university) but when I'm next at the UAS base I'll look into it.

IIRC, any approved degree by the RAeS, IMechE etc
