C421 and ferry tanks
 

Hi all,

I hope I'm posting this in the right section, anyway... Does anyone know of a supplier/manufacturer/installer of ferry tanks, in the UK, that I could contact regarding having them fitted to a Cessna 421?

Does anyone know of a 421 that has had this treatment before? Presumably if one has been outfitted with this kit before, CAA approval will be a less time consuming business!? The aircraft needs to be good to go in 8 months time. Does anyone have a rough time scale from installation to approval?

Is this a Cessna 421C
With wing locker tanks you should be ok.We used to ferry from the States ok.
I doubt if you get approval for this type of installation in a UK registered a/c.

I'd recommend giving Avtech at Biggin Hill a call, they do a lot of work with this type so I would have thought they'd know, and I've always been very impressed with the service.

Sorry, I should have said in my first post that the aircraft will be flying trans-Pacific as well as trans-Atlantic. Even with locker tanks it will still need ferry tanks. Longest over water leg is in excess of 10 hours.
HS125... thanks for the tip, I will contact them to see if they can help. I am also in contact with Far North Aviation in Wick, who appear to know a lot about ferrying. It might be logistically easier to use Biggin, but will keep our optiosn open.

I would suggest giving CSE Ltd a call at Oxford, they are a main Cessna Dealers and should be able to help you out.............. stupid as it may seem when I was at Rogers Aviation before it went pop we used to have a shed full of ferry tanks that had been used to ferry A/C to the UK then were of no further use... you might find CSE or the likes have similar.

We had a French cessna 310 here that had a wheels up landing here , it was designed to do some really long flights and had a full system for it (not fitted)... it had cabin tanks, nose bay tanks, baggage locker tanks and even a big one down the tail!, I believe it was written off again after being repaired, you might try phoning Steve Coope at Tollerton Aviation, Tollerton Airport Nottingham, he may be able to tell you what happened to the system, as it was all shipped to them with the plane..F-GGGG I think was the original reg. it was boxed up and not in use if i remember correctly..
