Carbon microphones.

Can anyone please tell me if there are any technical differences between these two microphones. Both types were routinely supplied with Clement Clarke Airlite headsets some years ago. I've seen both in various Dan-Air aircraft cockpits, including the Comet, 146 and 727.

Thankyou.

I've found out that the microphone in the second picture is a David Clark model, made in 1979. My wild guess is that the other one is a later version made by Clement Clarke themselves. Maybe a refinement of some sort.

Would be very interested to see VHF/HF aviation transceivers of the same vintage. There's probably a museum somewhere no doubt!

The Airmed/Clement Clarke microphone is a relative youngster but still from a previous generation of avionics. It should still work in any modern aircraft where you'd be likely to see ultra-expensive Bose headsets, providing twin sockets are available.
