There is no conversion - you just go and take the FAA A&P exams.

As Jet II said just do the exam.......no conversion applies!!! did you even try a tiny search! If you have to ask the question here you should not even try to apply! Sorry to be harsh but real!

Jet ll and jucy are quite correct, no "conversion" as such exists, but holding an easa B1 may ALLOW you to sit the 3 A&P exams and then the practical assessment. All depends on what they say at the fsdo.

I didn't say it was hard, you just have to jump through the hoops. Not everything in life is a straight out "conversion"

It's the FAAs' trainset, they can play how ever they want.

If you are a foreign applicant you must first prove to the FAA the need for you have an A&P. Letters from N-Reg owners or that the company you work for handle N-Reg. To sit the exams you must have a letter of approval to test from your local FSO. The exams themselves are a breeze after the hoops have been jumped through. All the question bank with answers are published so 80% of it is a memory exercise!!!!!

How to get an FAA A&P licence

There is no crossing over from an EASA part 66 to an FAA A&P or vice versa.

The hardest task on the FAA A&P license is to get the slips = Approval to take the exam .
You only get those when you are working on N-registered A/C and you can prove the need for the licence.

The exam questions are published yearly and you learn them by heart!
There is also an oral and practical exam.

More info is on HowToGetAnA&P

Cheers

md600:

Still no conversion in 2017. I would suggest contacting the FAA IFO for your side to get all the latest options.
https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...s/ifo/nyc_ifo/

With an existing foreign mechanic license, the hardest part is documenting the experience requirements for FAR Part 65.77 and obtaining the "authorization cards" to take the written and oral exams. Whether you can do that on your side I do not know.

However, short of a miracle, I think the only option is to visit my side and take the test here since there are no more IFOs outside the States that I know of.

Good luck!
