M/E CIR in North QLD
Hi All,
First time poster just wanting to know of a good place to do my M/E CIR around Cairns and Townsville. Also want to know if there are any operators who offer ICUS to help build hours. Any info would be great. |
THE only place. Bob Harris at Innisfail.

What are the aircraft types at Innisfail
U2 |
Beechcraft Duchess. Bob is thorough, firm, fair and friendly.
Cheers P40 |
Just to add a vote for Bob, I concurr. The area is good for IFR training as well. CYAS used to have ICUS, don't know if they still do.
|
Thanks for the replies. Sounds like Bob is the go. Looks like I'll be finishing each Nav with an NDB approach.
|
His office is next door to the Aero Club, also managed by Bob. So expect some mandatory after hours "social activities"! :D :D :D :D
|
Bob by reputation is certainly one of the best around. Not the easiest but from what I hear when you get the rating its becasue you earned it not because you did the hours and payed the money.
Failing that, Rocco at Bluewater Aviation in Townsville is another good one. A bit of a "character" but a damn good pilot with well maintained A/C. |
I would still give CYAS in Cairns a go- you might possibly swing some work up in the straits with them. Possibly on the PN68 or maybe the BN2.. Expect a fair bit of C182 though.

Well shooting an innisfail NDB approach every lesson will get you pretty good in no time: a sector entry, reversal and the approach adds up to around 13 minutes....
Not that practice is such a bad thing, after all that is what you are paying for! |
