Work Experience @ ADL?
Hi, guys. I currently study in Adelaide and just wonder do you guys know where can I get a student work experience 'job' for a week and I will be free most of time in July.
By the way, I have already tried a few airlines and travel agencies, but they were unsuccessful. Anyway, look forward to hearing from you guys and see you later! |
I had the same problem a few years ago but in the end I got offered a place with Singapore Airlines in their airport office. I never had such a great time.
Qantas usually offer places but I suspect you have left it too late. |
Probably its too late!
Apacau, thanks for your quick response.
Maybe its too late now, but I actually wrote to Sinagpore Airlines and as well as Qantas Airways almost a month ago. Singapore Airlines SA/NT manager replied that they are no longer in a position to take students for work experience. Someone from Qantas Airways Adelaide ticketing office (North Terrace, Adelaide) sent me an email with a comment: we don't have work experience program this year. Apacau, what do you think I should do now? I am very worried!!! |
I need some suggestions!
Is here anyone can give me some more suggestions?
Thanks in advance. |
Sorry, made a mistake, I was asking for suggestions about my work experience @ ADL. For details, please visit a post earlier WORK EXPERIENCE @ ADL.
|
For sure mate....
What's the question?:D |
I suggest that when asking for suggestions, suggest the TYPE of suggestions you are asking suggestions for.
hope I helped. :p |
Forget the airlines. If ADL is like MEL, it's booked a year in advance!
Try the airport authority, refuelling company, Airservices, Customs, whatever company works at the airport. I'm assuming you want to be at the airport, if not, try the yellow pages. |
Re: Buster Hyman
Buster Hyman, thank you for your helpful suggestion.
In fact, I also found that most airlines refused to take students for work experience in Adelaide this year. Anyway, I will try my best to get an offer, I am just waiting for a few more replies and then I will probably try the airport authority and some other related entities. Once again, thank you and best regards! |
don't eat the yellow snow

Maintenance Companies
Howdy,
I did work experience with an aircraft maintenance company at Parafield. They seemed more than happy to have me. Once they realise you aren’t a drongo they’ll normally get you to do some interesting stuff. I went out on plenty of engine run-ups in chieftains etc. I also went up on a couple of autopilot flight tests… Totally in accordance with CAR 249 of course. ;) I was there "for the purpose of flight observation." E-Mail me if you want more details. |
Make sure you're fuel caps are on
No seat belts hanging out closed doors Dont leave the dipstick on the wing ...and ditto for what okeydokey was saying... |
To: Wing Root
Wing Root, thanks for your sincere assistance.
I am currently waiting for some replies and if they are unsuccessful then I will try to write to airport authority and a few others what I have known. Certainly, if I need your suggestion or some advices, I will email you as soon as possible. Anyway, thanks and have a good day! |
Hi Flyaustralia!
Just a thought from an ex-ADL chicky...try contacting the Airport Manager directly (Domestic and International terminals). Or, if you are able to, take a trip down to the airport and go along James Scofield Drive (turn right off the main inbound road, just after the service station) and approach some of the smaller companies there. Best of luck :) Luv "Panties" xxx :D :D :D |
You just keep yer eye out for cannibals PVC
I hate to think of you being eaten up there. |
I need some Suggestions
If you would like to post your email address here, I will contact you with an offer of work experience in the Aviation Industry.:D
|
Always check your tyre pressure before a long journey...;)
|
Thanks.
Thanks for the people who suggested some tips.
Anyway, if you guys want to give me some suggestions or advices, you may post here or contact me via MY EMAIL. BTW, please no junk mails and emails with virus, my email system has got a top anti-virus software. |

Aviation can wait for a while - get another qualification behind you first ...something you can go back to..then go for it.:) |
One other thing.
If you end up somewhere & you really love it, whatever you do, don't make that your career goal. I did work experience in an area that made me want to work nowhere but there. When I got there, I loved it, but realised I'd aimed too low. If you can, use your work experience to create contacts & ensure you keep in touch. If you wish to end up back in that area, it'll make it a hell of a lot easier for them to remember you. Be enthusiastic & willing to do any job that's offered. I've seen many kids come & go, and the ones that get the most out of their experience are the ones that are enthusiastic & willing to have a go. Believe me, you'll get a much better experience because the people showing you around respond to your enthusiasm. |
