Bidder for Hazelton, Kendell pulls out
ABC News Online
Posted: Mon, 29 Apr 2002 15:16 AEST Bidder for Hazelton, Kendell pulls out One of the bidders for Ansett's regional carriers, Hazelton and Kendell airlines, has withdrawn its bid, saying the administrators are unnecessarily dragging out the decision on a preferred bidder. Hazelton creditors today voted unanimously to extend the deed of agreement by 30 days, allowing more time to secure a sale and avoid liquidation. Hazelton's administrator says he hopes to announce a preferred bidder within a fortnight, but the withdrawal of Australiawide Airlines leaves only one other contender -- the Inland Marketing Corporation. Hazelton engineer Wayne Hayden says the last seven months have put an enormous financial and emotional strain on the airline's staff. "Hours have been reduced across the company, and the wages have been reduced so that's a great financial burden to everyone concerned," he said. "Apart from that it's knowing whether I need to go to work the next day or find a new job." |
Which means we at last know who the preferred bidder is!!
Let's hope now that the sale is sorted out soon so that everyone can get on with their lives. |
