Reading all the stuff about ZL, I cannot beleive that there is any faith left. The whole process has been hamstrung by political interference, silent agendas, dunno but it would seem to me quite logical.

Regional NSW had a number of carriers, now only really Airlink struggling away, and Hazo's being dragged along....

Surely a politician as slick as old Ando would recognise that the bush in NSW has very little in the way of links via air to to east coast.....

To date he has done a fat nothin other than beat his chest and feign concern on the Today program......Maybe he really doesnt like getting dressed up in the RM Williams and going to his bush retreat.

I wonder if the government actually is concerned with the increasing isolation of the bush........But then again the alternative is probably as inept anyway!

I've been wondering about that, too - this guy is a National Party politician, after all. Does anyone know who advises him on aviation matters? Does he have an aviation advisor who is independent of CASA? Has anyone told him what the effect on the bush infrastructure will be if Parts 119 and 121B get up in their present form? Does he have any idea? Or is he just not interested? I would have thought these matters go to the very heart of his constituency.

Who do you think is telling CASA to produce changes such as what's coming through now!

Parts 119 & 121B will effect the bush but Ando can now appear on breakfast television and look joe public in the eye and declare aviation safe for the paying public.

The newly rich in the western suburbs of Sydney (ex-Labour seats) will eat it up.

And for the bush, well sweeteners like the forthcoming free trade deal (including agriculture) with Japan will help soften the blow.

John Anderson will not be telling CASA to make the changes they are making. That is not how government works. Anderson will not be involved in the micro detail of any of the CASA proposals. He will have asked for regulatory reform and parts 119 and 121B will be what CASA dishes up to him as regulatory reform.

A minister will receive advice from his bureaucrats - that is what they are there for - in this case CASA. CASA will tell the minister that their proposed 119 and 121B are the way to go.

Anderson (or any other MInister) will accept their advice if he does not have conflicting advice from industry or the community.

If you want Anderson to reject CASAs advice re the new 119 and 121B and tell them to go back to the drawing board, you must let him know that they won't work and won't be acceptable to the industry or the community.

The Minister needs to receive alternative advice - in the form of rational and well argued industry and community opposition to the proposals in order to reject them.

For those concerned about the proposals, your challenge is to show the Minister that this is a significant political issue and he should reject the (bad) advice from his department.
