Ex-Ansett Pilots moving to Qatar??
 

I heard a rumor that a few A-320 crews went looking for greener pastures in Qatar. Anyone like to comment on the pay and conditions? Did anyone accept the job? I have also heard rumors that an angry dwarf lives there. :eek: :eek:

Quatar !! If they are ex AN "Heros" there must be an Allah after all. :D
If they are not, then I feel sorry for them.

why would you move to Doha when there are better opportunities in Bahrain? if you have an A320 endorsement this is where the action is and you can enjoy a pint with your buddies any night of the week 365 days a year!

Was anyone offered a position? If so did they accept it after meeting the angry dwarf? Personally I would rather sit on an aussie beach and enjoy my retirement.

Don't worry they won't accept a position there because they will no longer be "hero's" and be the centre or attention. The angry dwarf will difinately not recognise status of any kind. If they do go then the Company can have them. It is probably one of the worst companies in existance. You work as directed, they do not follow any FTL's and employment security is zero. As for the location, Doha is a sleepy little boring town and a location where one has to make ther own entertainment and being an outcast is not good.

This would be a well worthwhile, (and after Sentinel, Air NZ, News Corp, ACTU, Bob Ork, the poisonous dwarf with the fluffy coiff, the big fat jewish prick and every one else who has screwed them), and necessary charity. Qatar, voted as the most boring place on earth, several years running, by travel writers, sand, sand and more sand, and what's that I hear, not much drinking!

Sounds like a perfect place for these Ostrich's to bury their heads for a few years.

I suppose the Lawmower man missed out as there is not much lawn over there. (he could take up sandblasting instead, I suppose)

Well some have tried to come further North, but I hear that from some areas, the response is not good. Or should I put it this way, In some Northen areas, applications are being treated with a lot of doubt. (just like applications were treated 10 years ago, on a flight saftey thing. The statement was made, and surely, it must be true.) "It would be dangerous to put these pilots in cockpits with AFAP members", so we will continue to take this in mind, to ensure the safe operation of our airline.

Most guys that went to Qatar were 95ers.

Awful place too,Manager of Flt Operations resigned over a few discrepancies.

Two of the AN F/Os who knocked Qatar back have been accepted by Cathay, but wont cross a picket line.

Bull****, Bulldog69, I know at least one Scab from the BNE Base ("The Captains, Captain, GK"), this scab has such a big head that this is how he referred to himself to other pilots. He scabbed early, and did well for himself.

Anyone needing clarification on the working and living conditions in QATAR might like to contact the Chief Pilot of Virgin Blue. From memory, J.R. spent some time there, before moving on to (literally) greener pastures.

My fondest memories of QATAR were those of looking down at it from 33,000', and the recollection of those words "Water, water everywhere - but not a drop to drink", that must have been penned following a l o n g trek across miles of white, shimmering sand!

To my mind, there seems to be something very biblical in this trilogy of unfolding events. :D

Thanks for the "concern"...busy in Melbourne town avoiding trams, hangovers and liver transplants. I had the (unfortunate) experience of passing Ansett's newly appointed Chief Pilot on the escalators of the Tullamarine terminal at 0600 Saturday morning, a few weeks back. Strangely, he didn't seem to hear my call to him, and he swiftly disappeared - undoubtedly headed North to BNE.

Yes, the Oz Bash took its toll, and it HAS taken a few weeks to recover - no thanks to OzsExpat, Binos, Gaunty, John Tullamarine, Go Girl, Velvet, Blue Diamond, Dale, Foxy, Deaf (akaSlasher) Blue Sky Baron etc, etc.
And not least of all Interceptor, who very generously shouted my family and me a Dim Sum lunch in Chinatown!

So life in MEL is possibly a LITTLE better than that in QATAR! :D ......but never having been there (QATAR), one can only wonder. :confused:
