Bad day at the office for QF Chairman

A mate from up north told me this story that occured early this week.

Apparently the QF Chairman was booked on the MC-SY Qantaslink/Impulse B717 flight. This aircraft went U/S and the flight was delayed 2-3 hours. There were 100 odd not so happy passengers including the Chairman. The Charmain was transferred to Sunshine Express who operate services between MC and BN on behalf of Qantas. This flight would get the Charmain to BN were she could connect with a BN-SY flight. However she had to fly in Bandit (no in-flight service), but at least it departed on time.
The Chairman manages to get on a B737 flight from BN-SY, however another problem occurs. The B737 is damaged by a set of stairs that hit the aircraft. Aircraft is unable to fly, all passengers have to get off (including the Chairman) and transferred to other flights. So once again the Chairman gets to see more angry passengers and she is delayed once more. Aircraft is towed to hangar where it will spend the next 1-2 weeks getting repaired. Repair bill on B737 $200000-$300000, Impulse B717 out of service for 2 days and many angry passengers. So not the best day for the QF Chairman.

I assume she made sure all fare paying pax were accommodated on flights before she took a seat..........NOT!!

She should expect to have many more bad days soon when the details hit the press of how her General Manager for Regional Operations is completely stuffing up the closure of Southern. Apparently the company is on high safety alert watch by the QF Safety Department due to the way staff are being treated and the accompanying stress levels. The press will have a field day when details start emerging.

Stress levels are over the top for those involved and those on the periphery. Wish the whole bloody mess would just get sorted out so that people can get on with their lives

I wonder, is even the chairman barred from grabbing the jump seat???

Perhaps the level of frustration she has experienced can give her an insight into what we FAs have to put up with... Both in terms of angry pax and a product that only keeps getting worse. I lose count how many times a day I say to a pax "I am sorry we don't have that..."

Things can only get better, hey? :-)

:D Given this is fact, can anyone tell me how Virgin Pax could have been handled if they had had a similar set of , er, mishaps???

:) Funny, reminds me of a similar story back in the old days of Sunstate flying the sheds to MC......Apparently Jimmy Bow Tie was transiting from Mc thru Brisbane to Sy, so the good old G.M of Sunstate decided it was only appropriate that the shed be taken of that run and a dash 8 provided for that " special service ". Well true to form the Dash broke down, JBT was left stuck at MC for hours until the shed that was doing that run previously returned from operations elseware......

We all laughed our boxes off!!...motto of the story : if it's good enough for the common old pax it's good enough for management :p :p :p

See ya :D :D
