QF 737s for Dallas?

Totally unconfirmed rumour and even the source isn't sure of how fkosher it is (himself having been put it together from information from a few different places) but I think there is the possibility of QF 737s hubbing out of Dallas at some stage in the future.

With the AKL flights due to go to Dallas in the future, why wouldn't QF base some 737s to do some 'feeder' or codeshare work.

If you think about pay rates and so one (and even add in accomodation and allowances) then you are still saving in the vicinity of $1 million dollars per annum per airframe by utilising Aussie crews than AMerican.

Also significant marketing advantage plus QF and AA do have an agreement to look at utilisation of assets.

Anyway, it is a rumour and an interesting one at that. Certainly worthy of discussion anyway!

rubbish, the whole idea of hubbing at DFW is to codeshare on AA flights

Nice pipedream, but I would guess that the American unions a just a little bit stronger than that. However, if United did go broke as some suggest they might, well, I guess there would be plenty of One World flying to be done! Hmmmm...

For the same reason overseas operators don't shove their a/c in Oz and operate them domestically......they're not allowed. One domestic sector and the next has to be International.

The Yanks don't even allow one.

Virgin Blue is 100% foreign owned, and operates domestically within Australia.

"Ladies and gentelmen, thank you for flying with Qantas the American (sic) Airline"

Keg, what can I say, "Your dreaming Son" :)

Didn't United offer domestic flights from SY to MEL? What's that all about?

Keg 6th Feb 2002 12:23

Geez guys. I didn't say I believed it, just thought I'd pass it on for information.

I'll laugh myself stupid if it comes off though.

About 1 in a 100 chance of that though!

C'mon Ed, I've been on the 767 long enough to know not to touch the lunchboxes these days! :)
