'The Australian Newspaper'......Job Search????

Its common knowledge in the AUS AV industry that Friday's Australian has the Aviation Job section and cheers to 'Windshear' who always takes the time to post the pilot jobs for us.. .. .But...how can I access this Job Info on the Internet ??? It says that careerone.com.au holds all the news.com.au jobs but yet stuffed if I can find an Aviation Section through their search system..... .. .Its a pain in the arse at times to buy an Australian Newspaper and hence sometimes I can't.. .. .Does anyone know how to get these AV jobs from the Australian online???. .. .Cheers. .. .BF

First of all,. .. .Do you want the job to come to you OR are you willing to put the effort into finding and buying The Australian?

longwayfromoz show a bit of courtesy. The Australian can be extremely hard to get your hands on in some parts of the country. Impossible in others.. .BigFoot I'm not too sure if you can access the positions on the net. I don't think the positions advertised are really "job advertisements", but merely a form of classified submitted by various companies.

Mr Foot. . I have found that if you regularly buy the Australian on a Friday striking up a relation ship with your local purveyor of news papers works a treat, especialy in obscure parts of the country. Get he or she to save it for you then if your not in town or it comes late then you still get a copy. I have used this method for years (and still do and I now live in Darwin not the back of beyond!!!) You will find that most news agents are more than happy to do this as long as you remember to pick up your papers. You will also find that a lot of publications that have websites are not posting the whole paper or classifieds because they are in the business of SELLING papers not giving it away for free. So see about getting it saved for you. It does work even in the most bizarre places and really does save the frustration of getting there too late to get the paper. Good luck. .. .Mrs Wheelbarrow

Hey Big Foot,. .. .Unless your an experienced rotary pilot why bother with the newspaper at all? There doesn't seem to be much on offer there in OZ anyway.

The Australian???

Shagtastic is right. Is there any other way of searching for a job as a fixed wing pilot??? IS anyone else depressed with how their job search is going????:(

Icarus2001 28th Jul 2002 08:14

I don't think you will see many entry level jobs advertised in The Australian simply because of cost. If they won't pay the bloody award what makes you think they will cough up bucks for an ad?:)

Local knowledge is the only way in. Ring around, write. You have to be Johny on the spot as well.

Thanks for that I2001....thought so. Time to pack up and start knocking doors.:)
