"Meaningful" logbook entries
 

I am curious to know what standards people use in their filling in of logbook entries.

For instance, a quick tour around Melbourne.. is that

"YMEN - YMEN" or
"EN - EN" or
"EN - airwork - EN" etc ...

I would also be interested anybody notes the class of operation of the flight, eg PVT, AWK, CHTR or RPT.

En-En (Airwork) does it for me.

I usually use Y??? - Y???, unless it is a place I am going to for the first time or it has a difficult-to-remember designator.

eg YBBN - Forbes - YSSY.

Then after that :- YBBN - YFBS - YSSY

That's my two bobs worth anyway

I would put in:

EN-EN (Airwork).

Other examples:

ML-AY(25VOR/DME)-ML(16ILS) for instrument approach recency

BK-BK (3 CCTS) for night recency for example.

I use to annotate if the flight was under I.F.R. procedures too, as some airlines want to know how many hours multi-engine under I.F.R. you have as well as the number of instrument flight hours.

i tell you what , log books are a waste of time. over here when you get 3500 hrs under your belt its just all monkey motion filling that damn thing in. so for the record you get the trip sheet totals once a yr and use that as the hrs, therefore u have a much easier way of doing this log thing. come to think of it after your first 1000 jet time what else do u need a log for ? if u crash make sure ur log book goes with you so the auth. can find a record to get back at you.
remember its only paper and paper with worth nothing in yrs to come...
