Flight Attendants are being directed to wear G-strings !

As Reported Today.

"A union says female flight attendants are being directed to wear G-strings so passengers can't see their panty lines.

The Flight Attendants Association of Australia (FAAA) said the union was concerned that some airlines were focusing on grooming ahead of cabin crew members' overall professionalism.

But airlines have denied the claims.

FAAA international division national secretary Johanna Brem said some flight attendants had to act as cleaners, service attendants and emergency workers during their day.

And she said as the workload of cabin crews expanded many felt undervalued in their profession.

"Some airlines are more concerned about our duties in terms of wanting us to clean toilets and the grooming standards," she said.

"What we want to highlight is the professionalism of the crew. We are safety and security professionals saving people's lives."

Ms Brem said some domestic flight attendants at Virgin Blue had expressed concern about the airline imposing a standard on visible pantylines.

"Some airlines are trying to impose a grooming standard for female frontline staff of wearing G-strings during their duties," she said.

But a spokeswoman for Virgin Blue said there was no underwear policy at the airline.

"There is no directive that stipulates our cabin crew have to wear particular underwear," she said.

Virgin Blue flight attendants are however required to clean toilets as part of their job, the FAAA said.

Qantas meanwhile said the airline had a grooming standard in place.

But a spokeswoman said there was no requirement for flight attendants to wear particular underwear.

The union on Monday launched a national campaign, called Cabin Crew - professionals from the ground up."

It ceases to amaze me how delusional many female FA's are in Australia. Granted, many pilots have over inflated opinions of themselves, self importance, massive egos and believe that what we do is actually alot more difficult than what it is, But this is an absolute joke!!! Do unions (passed usefullness since the end of the industrial age) have nothing better to do!

May I suggest:

"What we want to highlight is the professionalism of the crew. We are safety and security professionals saving people's lives." I guess when they eventually turn up with a meal tray (Qantas) and drop it on your lap, that may constitute saving ones life!!!!!

"Some airlines are more concerned about our duties in terms of wanting us to clean toilets and the grooming standards," Have a look at any other airline outside of Australia!

"Some airlines are trying to impose a grooming standard for female frontline staff of wearing G-strings during their duties," So! I am sure its more comfortable, although gone are the days of an asthetically pleasing cabin crew and many, may be better served wearing a Hammok instead!

"There is no directive that stipulates our cabin crew have to wear particular underwear," Then whats all the fuss about????

"Qantas meanwhile said the airline had a grooming standard in place." Pity they don't have customer service standards in place!

"And she said as the workload of cabin crews expanded many felt undervalued in their profession." Obviously not Qantas, what workload, and if they think there undervalued, well what did you think when you chose that career path???? Hardly neuro surgery!

Get a Life, you Idi@ts!!!

Haaaaaaaahahahahah. I can just see all those cranky, indignent, grumpy old girls at QF strutting up and down the cabin with a banger riding high in the crutch. aaaaaaaaahahahahahaha. I'm pretty sure all the spunks that work for VB wear 'em regardless. Surely this is a windup......got my attention though. What a top laugh. :D

w_ocker 19th Dec 2001 03:52

sorry. Did you say that Virgin has a "no underwear policy", or that they have "no underwear" policy?? he hee he.

Kiwiconehead 19th Dec 2001 03:59

We suggested inflight entertainment could be improved by short skirts and only using the bottom half of catering trolleys.

lame 19th Dec 2001 05:02

I take it that there is NO sex discrimination at Virgin Blue..... ;)

The male flight attendants also have to wear G strings....

Eastwest Loco 19th Dec 2001 05:07

What is the landing flap setting for a DJ F/A who is not wearing knickers?

EWL

Air Ace 19th Dec 2001 05:20

Boeing Belly 19th Dec 2001 05:22

Poor dears! IMHO they could learn a lesson from SQ where if the girls go up more than one dress size they are OUT!

We had more than our fair share of cuties at NJS while Wozza was doing the hiring :D and none of them lacked self asteem and were all, mostly, good at their jobs, still keen and enthusiastic. Great on overnights ;), unlike a lot of the more 'senior' QF women who clearly don't enjoy their work anymore, just the money and perks!

But then Wozza was displaced and all of a sudden Trolleys were being hired on 'personality' rather than 'presentation' :( and we got our first 'male' :( .

EWL,

I think you will find that standard procedure would indicate full flaps are normal in the 'no knickers' configuration. :D

However if there is gusting wind in the vicinity  , or you desire to make a high speed approach :p then it would be prudent to adjust the aforementioned flaps to a more moderate setting... Naturally flap adjustment in this scenario is entirely the captain's responsibility.

Of course if adjusting the flaps causes them to become split then an approach should be made forthwith at that setting with no further adjustment.

AMRAAM 19th Dec 2001 07:12

Thank God !!

Now they tell us that the memo was for flight attendants only, what am I going to do with these bloody uncomfortable things.

LAME need a few pairs, do you.

429 CJ 19th Dec 2001 09:33

You can blame the other half for this one.....

Mary, Mary had a skirt,
With a split right up the side.
Every time she moved her leg,
You could see her thigh!

Now Mary, Mary had another skirt,
It's split right up the front.
But she didn't wear that one very often.  :D ;)

I'm prolly in twuble now! ;)

I heard they were in fact pushing for a "no underwear" policy but dropped the idea because of possible wind shear issues.

There were also concerns that some pax might attempt to adjust the trim themselves, and additionally that it would give possible terrorists uninhibited access to the cock pit.

They have however issued a directive banning nylon undies - in that they may increase the chances of inadvertently initiating excess thrush.

lame 19th Dec 2001 11:51

AMRAAM,

Trust me, they would NOT suit me......  ;)

You keep them....... :D

Best regards,

"lame"

Pontius Pilot 19th Dec 2001 12:47

Nothing wrong with wearing G-strings Lame, there bloody comfortable!
But if you choose to buy them from sportsgirl or wear them on your head, I guess thats a different story!!! :D

All this reminds me of a resolution carried (in jest) at an AFAP Executive about 18 years ago.

Many of you would know of the Air NZ FA who dropped her threads and sat on the face of a J class pax. I think her name was Whitebread or perhaps Whitehead, or similar.

The resolution was:

WHEREAS an Air NZ FA shed her clothes and accosted a J class pax on a cross Pacific flight, thereby bringing the airline name into disrepute, and causing embarrassment to other pax,

BE IT RESOLVED that every attempt be made to recruit Mx Whitebread to AN (or it may have been QF).

I think there should be a no undies policy for all FA's.

Better rethink that after a recent trip back to Oz. Looking at a few crusty old QF sheilas, and imagining them in G strings was not a nice fantasy/nightmare.

Perhaps we could go the SQ way, and up a dress size and you're out, or have a pilot panel vet them regularly for suitability of body shape.

Bundy 20th Dec 2001 04:22

Of course there are no overweight, unattractive, personality bypassed pilots at any airline!

Chimbu chuckles 20th Dec 2001 06:39

Bundy your point is

At Talair in Lae in the late 80s we pilots were put in charge of F/A recruitment(for a very short time period ) Clearly someone had a sense of humour.....unlike Bundy

Well we bench tested some real cuties, all dumb as dog$hit but cute! We even dragged Wisang out of Wasu, our Talair agent's daughter, big mellons but Dad wanted her back pronto

To give you an idea of the intellect Glenda, one of the prettiest was my F/A in a bandit one day departing Rabaul for Nissan a few minutes behind an Islander flown by one of our junior drivers. I leveled off and went wizzing past a few wings spans away and not 10 seconds later Glenda arrived in the cockpit,

"Captain Chuck! how did he do that?"

"Huh, do what?"

"How did he make the islander fly backwards?"

:)

Chuckles.

Woomera 20th Dec 2001 06:47

Chuck
Is that the same reason the runway markers/lights go backwards when you push forward on the thrust lever thingies
