ASL exam delivery

Sat exam yesterday in Melbourne and thought the experience was colourful to say the least.. .. .5 of us ready to enter the room before the published 'meeting time', not commencement time of 8:30am. Door opens and we are met with a verbal barrage of demands much like you would expect from Bruce Ruxton in his military heyday.. .. .One poor guy turns up 10 minutes late, gets accused for not having read his information form and then gets told 'you pilot types who don't read your forms, it's you guys that cause accidents like the one that killed those three doctors'.. .. .So not a good start, and for those already nervous the shakes were getting worse by the minute.. .. .Next we all try to log on but guess what, the server is down in Canberra, and guess what again -it was a holiday in Canberra yesterday!. .. .Anyway 'hitler' then filled us in with the news that he could do nothing about it, and it could take all day if we were lucky for the exams to come through, but who were we to complain as he had been up preparing since 6am.. .. .By this stage it was asked why an IT person was not present to supervise and would it not be an obvious requirement? It was also asked why paper backup exams are not planned for?. .. .By this time it was also blatently suggested that we as the paying candidates should be treated as customers rather than unworthy subordinates.. .. .So we then get started as the system comes back on 1.5 hours late. The cherry on the cake was to then have 'Hitler' taking mobile phone calls while we are trying to concentrate. . .. .It was no suprise that there were at least three fails at the end of the sitting.. .. .Be warned.

If this is all true, it is absolutely ATROCIOUS. You should complain vehemently to the ATPL exams officer in Canberra and get this guys a$$ kicked until his breath smells of boot polish. . .. .No one deserves this sort of villification or hassling prior to an exam, and CASA should know about it and do something about it.. .. .Good luck next time.

It is true to the point that a fax objecting to the occurences was sent by the end of the day and contact in support has been made amongst those in attendance.

deckchair . .. .that schits me big time , how do personalities like that come about ?. .. .I hope CASA hear about this persons behaviour and give him a right bumming.. .. .we used to have yellow? comment sheets when I did mine , intended for conveying any (constructive) comments/messages to the exam administrators in canbera , who by the way , are a fairly understanding bunch and would no doubt act on a flood of comments from one sitting directed at the supervisor.. .. .I still dont know why we went down this expensive path with individual terminals and online marking when existing paper exams (if you analyse the probable cost) were just as secure and cheaper - ie- at closing date print number of papers needed and courier to local area office for delivery on the morning and collection by scheduled courier on completion for return to canberra - even if answer papers were scanned and marked online with candidates waiting outside for printed result slips , even that would be cheaper and no less secure.. .. .outsourcing has its merits but not when it creates an entire industry from what was once a small office in canberra - with the end user (taxpayer/customer/student..etc) picking up the 500% increase in costs.

Attention: Tooheys

Hey Tooheys, seems that everything "schits" you these days. Build a bridge and get over it.

You post defamitory crud about people, ignore a request to remove it, and then expect to be treated as an equal. Not gonna happen.

I might suggest finding the same device you recommended to me, and doing the same thing. At least I've made an effort to help others here....... You've done NOTHING.
