As the Cessna 210 made a horrible scrapping noise down the runway. Was the gear down? Me tinks not. ****** another one bites the dust.

To the pilot involved: Don't stress too much - the last bloke that "gutsed" one of john's 210s got a job flying a conquest in WA not long afterwards! :( ;) :D

Funny...never saw it mentioned in the NT chip wrapper?...210 guts-ing being an art-form up here its usually mentioned with the croc stories and drivers blowing 0.40.

Speaking of Borroloola, whats the airport security like there? Would it be safe to leave a chieftain parked there for a week while the pilot and pax were out fishing?

In general BRL is pretty safe for aircraft, although it depends on who your passengers are. My old CP once took some Territory Health workers to BRL to sack some aboriginal health workers who weren't, and the locals having got wind of this threatened to blow up the plane, so he had to stand guarding it in the 30something degree sun all day.

And stay clear of the place in Pay weeks, and when the rodeo is on as the mob from Rob River are in town, their restraining orders have been lifted apparently.

....oh, and remember to park well clear of the flight strip in case theres out of control 210's gutsing in.

So was it pilot error or mechanical failure ?(who stuffed up the lame or the pilot?)

RR, remember one of my first T/O's in the Commander, got a tad close to the cones I seem to remember. Those silly toe thingos.

Thottlemonkey - take a look at the BASI website for the accident report on the very same AC. This accident, I understand, is a carbon copy. hmmmm

If memory serves there used to be a very accomodating young lady there who did an interesting trick with a mouthful of ice.
