CASA and Ansett #2
This will be interesting. Now we are going to see a hotshot accounting firm run an airline. How will they go grappling with MELs, PUSs, Chief Pilot responsibilities, maintenance control requirements, and CASA? And shouldn't CASA be doing a financial viability check?

HarveyGee,
If only the rest of Australia had thought about that closing sentence of yours (about a year ago). CA |
I gather financial viability only comes into it when applying for an AOC. Once you have an AOC, CASA has no power to take it from you even if you are bankrupt.
|
CASA have now said that Ansett are okay to resume operations, absolutely..........

I think it is a little pointed to target bean counters in respect to their ability to run an airline commercially as well as meeting all of the requirements of CASA.
Perhpas if their had been a bit more bean counting, Ansett may not have been forced into administration. Casa only needs to be satisfied that during the currency of an AOC the AOC holder is able to meet all of the requirements of the approved manuals and that appropriatley qualified and experienced personal are in place to perform the necessary functions. A good manager can many any business including complex Airlines. Let's give the new AN#2 all the support and ensure they do not fail. :) |
