C182 crash Darwin/batchelor

C182 speared in yesterday at batchelor, by the look of the front page of today NT egg beater I'd say it was no other than the AV8 G1000 182, hmmmm, 43 yo trainee doing land and goes, caught in cross wind, according to the paper. Find it hard to believe that you could get that much drift at batch, pretty fukn wide runway, ww2 fortress base.... Any comments!

Mate look at the news lately we (as pilots) are getting caned by the scumbag media, we don't need to do it to each other..

relaaaaaax....

(unless of course the person was a journo... if so fill yer boots!)

longrass mate, pretty quick to go heaping **** onto the poor guy based upon information gained from the NT News which ain't the greatest source of info at the best of times. Hell i can remember having trouble at YBCR when i was learning to fly.

Whilst I have my own thoughts on what happened, until more information is available i'm more than happy with the fact the the pilot walked away from a crash that could have been alot worse.

Doing circuits at batchelor, id say probably low hours doing the aero club special "182 endorsement", time will tell. Anyway, i'd say this may be the final straw for AV8, seems they may be out of options/money/planes/ideas.

What ever happened to Learn to Fly NT, did it ever take of, or did it just crash along with the 182.

I remember calling RE the 152 they had and being told that the best price was $180 Dry Ex GST. Did the old castle special and told em they were dreamin.

Nice plane, G1000 equip, hope the pilot is alright!!!!

Poor AV8, they really dont have a good name do they! I know of at least 3 pilots who have quit due to being asked to do "dodgy" stuff.

Didnt they buy some conquests from chart air/vincent? I havent seen them flying at all, sounds like the companys gonna go bust pretty soon!!!

Any landing you can walk away from...

I hope AV8 can survive this! The last thing we need is for another operator to go bust! (He says selfishly.)

G1000 182? Ouch! Would have been a nice bit of gear!

Cheers,
Greaser

Probably taken by a fu###ng crock on short final I recon.

Or ask Pete D. on 104.9 fm. he will have an opinion. Probably blame the "R22 widow Maker" for bringing it down with evil stares from some other runway.

Wankas always want to be seen as the first to know why a crash happened. by the time the investigation is out it is only the ones that really care reading the report.

Everyone with a GFPT and P. Davies 104.9 fm, is an expert as far as the media is concerned.

Hmmmm,

Leave it to the real experts shall we?????

Is that one of the new 182's with the turbo? I know of one in NZ that had a turbo failure and the engine all but quit..no bypass valve on the turbo just sucking a tiny amount of air through the seized impellor..average!

Longgrass you've been showing an interest in AV8's well-being for a while now. The bitterness is palpable but I can't figure out why, what gives?

Not throwing about libellous statements under the guise of PPrune anonymity now, are we?
What's with the attitude? Previous employee, maybe?

eeper23, won't have seen any conquests flying because they don't have any. 404 on line and a 414 on the way though.

Lol, fuk no, wouldn't get out of bed for what they pay. I just think the place is a joke, no different to many of the other small operators, start one about AF, AAA, Katherine, MAF, Gunbalanya.

My main problem with AV8 is that the frigs employ low hour pilots and put them in the office without/low pay and give them ICUS in return. Any operator who pushes pilots into breaking the rules, has no interest in pilot conditions and takes away from the industry should get what it deserves!

Can't wait to see them close, especially after the rumours that most DN people have heard about the ICUS affair

LG,
No disputing your right to dislike someone, but if you want to level allegations of pressure to break rules, QAS is not the company to try that one on.

Employees WILL be wearing their arse for a collar and then typing a resume when the CP finds out. Just ask anyone who actually works there (present tense, just to prove a point) rather than spinning that kind of sht.

If you are going to stick a low time pilot straight into a position without giving them ICUS, I wonder who is displaying the reckless attitude?
Not everyone has their flying funded by daddums and expects to jump straight into the QANTAS S.O. long haul pay bracket.
