I know that they are very busy and you might need to even organise a start date for a full time course. They have good quality instructors who have been around aviation alot longer than instructors in many other schools. Plenty of grade one and two's.

They teach all the way to MECIR and ATPL theory.

Yes, I do know a couple of people there.

I've been looking around for the best school. I've heard bad things about what is now Oxford Aviation, I like the look and feel of MFT, MFS and MAS.

Is MFT the best choice between the four listed above?

I just moved down to Melbourne and decided on Peter Bini's because of their excellent reputation and the fact that they do not have international students (don't flame me, just my preference)

I'm starting down here mid way through my CPL so have been around the flying scene for a few years (bought a house which stopped me from flying any more than just casually) so have heard most flying school marketing gimics.

But again, Peter Binis appealed to me, and have nothing negative to say about any operators on the field.

Good work Buckers, P.A. , and the rest of the team at MFT for keeping just the right amount of fun and 'social atmosphere' in amongst the tradition and regiment of a Flying Training organisation....

WBB, just a slight correction to your post.

Bini's have student pilots from all over the world including Malaysia, Bangalore, China and Hong Kong, just to name a few.

I agree that all 4 schools mentioned in this thread are excellent and students won't go wrong with any of them.

And yes, I hereby declare I know people in most of those schools mentioned.

I am really looking into australia for my training and have really looked in to mft and mfs..What do you people think about mfs?I have sent some emails to gfs but havent had any response...Btw,do you think there will be jobs for flight instructors in the near future?

hey mate, if your thinking of joining as a private student you wont be able to get in. Unfortunately GFS only accepts students who join a course, i.e Swinburne university of TAFE college courses and other airline cadets they process.

A vote for MFT - Melbourne Flight Training

I finished off my CPL with MFT - Melbourne Flight Training last month. I was very happy with the training there and the can do attitude. The CPL flight test was straightforward in the end because of the training that I had, even when the testing officer made things complicated.

I had been flying elsewhere and it was not quite right. Very happy I switched to MFT, and wish I had done that a lot sooner.

I flew with Reinhard and Nick. Next year I will be doing my instructor rating with Cameron.

Very satisfied customer, with a great feel to the place.

I trained at GFS and whilst I have gipes (mostly cost) the actual standard they got me too was good. Having said that, Just being in the MFT building and seeing the atmoshere I would say that I would recommend MFT. It's the only place I've seen where the CP will get a question from a student and take as long as needed to get the student understanding the answer. The hire rates are also very reasonable and as I posted before, the instructors have alot of hours between them.
MFS seem very centred around international students but not having any idea about the place I won't comment on them.

Just the opposite at MFS, they are slanted towards the local market.
Everybody seems to get equal attention.

Melbourne Flight Training is by far one of the best schools Ive ever seen.
I Came from GFS Point Cook after not being happy with my progression there.
Moved over to MFT and what do ya know. Finished off my CPL within 2 Months. And then my Instructor Rating at MFT. And now Work for MFT. And love it

The instructors at MFT are by far the most experienced and knowledgeable (Super Cam) on the airport. After Having done my rating with him. Im quite happy with the end result. Theres also a good vibe just being in the building.

The Fleet of aircraft is great. Cant Complain about that.

Only thing i can say. Is that MFT is starting to expand. And pretty soon were going to need a bigger or another building. Can get hard at times to find a breifing room when the place is busy.

Well for me, in the end my choice between schools was either at MFS or MFT. Both had great recommendations, facilities, culture etc, but MFS was more than $35 cheaper per lesson.

As a self-funded student pilot, money isn't the most important factor in chosing a school...but it does mean that compared to MFT, I get an extra lesson for the same money every 7 flights at MFS.

I had to pop into MFT recently regarding a few enquires. Spoke to GB, extremely friendly and gave me the time of day. Same couldn't be said about RVAC unfortunatly.

The greatest thing i have found from my training with MFT is the CFI. He will always find a way to get things done in the most efficient way, and is always willing to go out of his way for any customer
