Laplink Gold 11.0 over crossed cable
Basically, has anybody successfully made laplink Gold 11.0 work using a cat5e crossed cable between 2 Win XP (one home, one professional) PCs?
I know Laplink G. officially supports networks so I guess it won't know it's not a regular network and will work once the IP addresses etc are sorted out, right? (don't need to know that part tks) Cheers amofw |
amofw,
If you have two WinXP Machines and they both have network cards, there is no need for laplink. Just setup a network using the crossover cable. As long as the CAT-5 Cable is not more than a couple of feet long, you will get good speed out of it. If your computers are in different rooms, just get either a router or a hub/switch. Thanks Richard - my customer is rather stubborn so telling her to use something other than laplink is out of the question - I think she wants to use the automatic synch. features of laplink or maybe just confused herself more than she is already confused.
But business is business and the customer is always right, right? amofw |
amofw,
LOL! I hear you. Good Luck, Richard |
