auto 'Dial-Up Connection' on startup
Hi
Would anyone know why my Pc is starting to dial out on the 'Dial-Up Connection' as part of the start -up routine of my Pc. I have Win98 and as it turn it on - it starts to dial out on me. Whilst I do have a limit of 10 minutes on my dialler to disconnect if not in use - it is a worry for me as I might sometimes turn it on and walk awat from the machine for the rest of the day. If the 10 minute switch off does not kick in - I could be on he phone all day!!! Any ideas??? Sikpupi |
The most probable cause is that you have DUN set to "Automatically connect." But there are other settings both in Internet Options via Tools/Options on the browser. And in OE via Tools/Options.

You have'nt just installed 'Zone Alarm' have you?
The latest version is known to try and dial up on boot. I would presume that it will be possible to configure the program somewhere in the settings - something like 'automatically check for upgrades' (uncheck it, of course). Hope this helps. Tim |
Another couple to add to the list of culprits [edit!] that like to dial up automatically on startup are:
RealPlayer Microsoft Hotmail/Messenger Usually you can configure this habit out. |
