Flash SMS
Two nights ago, at approx 9pm, my phone beeped and a banner appeared on the screen. I picked the phone up to inspect the screen and then on the whole screen was a large message 'something something SMS' with information and it disappeared within several seconds, in fact so quickly I couldn't read it all. Whilst wondering "what the heck was that ?" I looked in the text folders, looked to see if anything had shown up, but nothing.....A friend opined that it was a 'Flash SMS' probably sent by my mobile carrier (UK) to do with carrier information, or possibly a Govt Dept extreme weather warning, civil unrest warning or asteroid collision warning ;-) I popped into my local Mobile Carrier's shop earlier to ask if THEY had any record of one of their messages being sent and they looked and said no, as usually they get forewarning some days before if there are any system messages,
I have looked a bit on the internet to see if there were any real or error-sent Flash SMS messages on Wednesday evening, but that also seems to not be the case. I wondered if it might be some kind of sophisticated hack, but am told this would be unlikely. Do any of the pruners have a clue what 'it' might have been ? |

Thank you for that suggestion, the feeling I got at the time was that it was perhaps an error-transmitted message that was then realised and terminated. If it had been a real message of import it wouldn't have disappeared from my screen after 3-5 secs, it would have stayed on the screen so as to allow the user to read, digest and act upon the warning.

I think that's being rather optimisitic.....................
