Running website features on Google Drive

Google Drive works well for hosting website files and folders but when entering the ‘sharing’ URL for a folder it only lists the files rather than running the html ‘index’ for a group of files. Is there any way of making the Drive operate like a normal website?

Thanks for info.

Here's a way. Never done it myself so I wouldn't know if it's a good way.

DriveToWeb lets you host web sites on cloud drives. You don't need to maintain a server

There are YouTube videos on how to use it. Here's one featuring an impressive amount of 'Vocal Fry'.

Theoretically, you could have a very minimal hosting package or server that only stores the index.html page that is needed to access the site, you could link everything else to files stored on Google drive. I do not know if you could have the html files on Drive as well though... but if you're sharing PDF, DOC, image files and such, perhaps you could have those on Google and all the HTML on the hosting package. It would be a bit of a puzzle to keep everything organised but it could work.

Is there a scenario where you have Google Drive without having Google Sites too?

Currently I’m just using Google Drive to store stuff to free up space on my website host so it’s not essential to have it operating like a website (which judging from YouTube vids looks complicated to set up). Thanks for input though.
