Christmas xbox series x woes.

Seasons Greetings to one and all.

Got the xbox x for something to do over the Christmas hols. However, am thinking this was a mistake. Trying to set it up, turn on goes to xbox logo, then black screen, followed by it turning itself off; I've done the obvious, unplugging everything etc. 15 goes, I'm getting bored now! But without being able to get further into the set up, can't think of anything else I can do.

Any ideas, before it wings its way back to Amazon towers?

Thanks NutLoose, I tried the advice but sadly it appears to be terminal.

The real problem being I never even got into the set up, Time to pack it up.

Thanks for the advice. Happy new year.

Lossie.

Get a replacement, it’s worth it, I had the same idea as you and don’t regret it.

I fear Mrs Lossie likes the idea of a refund! I'll see what I can do.

First, try a power cycle by holding the power button for 10 seconds to fully shut it down. Unplug the console for a few minutes, then plug it back in and restart it. If that doesn’t work, you can try resetting the display settings in case it’s a resolution issue. To do this, hold the Eject button (or Pair button for Series S) and the Power button simultaneously until you hear a second beep—this boots it into low-resolution mode so you can adjust the settings. Also, double-check your HDMI cable and port. Sometimes swapping cables or testing on a different TV can make a difference.

If none of these steps help, you might need to consider performing an offline system update using a USB drive, which Microsoft outlines in their support guides. If all else fails, it’s likely a hardware issue, and reaching out to Amazon or Xbox support for a replacement would be the best move. Hopefully, you’ll be up and gaming soon!

When everything’s sorted, consider checking out StealthCore tools for optimizing gameplay—they’re a great way to enhance your experience with new titles.
