Remote Shutdown

Hi Folks
Can anyone suggest good software that I can use to shut down a Windows 10 PC remotely when away from home, using an Android 'phone?

Thanks, as always for your expertise!

Assuming you already have a vpn connection to your home network you could enable the ssh(secure socket shell) server built into Windows and use an android ssh client such as JuiceSSH to connect to it from your phone. You could then run the Windows command line 'shutdown' command from your phone.

I've done this successfully to Linux computers - but never tried on Windows - it's probably not trivial to get working - at least not in a safe way.

If I didn't have a VPN I wouldn't risk setting this up myself. Better to turn the computer off before you go out.

A terrific program is Anydesk. https://anydesk.com/

Install it on your PC, and on your Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...anydeskandroid and set up the PC to allow unattended access from your Android one, and then you can dial in, do work on the PC, and/or just shut it down.

Great program.

In theory you don't need any third party software, just put Microsoft Remote Desktop on your Android phone, set your PC to allow remote access and hope. You are then dependant on the security of both Microsoft and your password.

I haven't tried it and Remote Desktop on Android doesn't review well. Remote Desktop itself when used Windows to Windows or Windows to Linux works well.

Thank you to all who replied to my question; I shall look at the options over the weekend!
