Weird DVD/Laptop/TV Problem
 

With a remote DVD player connected to TV screen via Macbook videos play fine on the TV.
With the same content from Amazon Prime I get strange unresponsive part screen plus unwanted 'info' and 'cast' panels on both laptop and TV. If I disconnect the TVcable I get full screen video on the laptop, reconnect TV and fullscreen disappears back to previous.
Any other content on laptop inc youtube videos show perfectly on TV.

What's going on?

First thing I'd suggest is checking whether there is a "Video Settings" option somewhere in Amazon Prime.
