Mouse gone mad

This morning my charts are playing up. Every time I put my mouse pointer on a chart the columns move to the left and cannot be dragged back. Same thing happens when it hovers over a picture produced by Snipping Tool.

It's driving me nuts!! Any suggestions gratefully received.

Clean it and the surface it's moving over. Failing that, new battery which often seems to quieten mine down...

LowNSlow 15th September 2021 11:19

treadi; tried all that to no avail...

The mouse is working perfectly well on everything including Excel.

Just noticed the sliders on the side of File Manager slide down to the bottom when I mouse over them

treadigraph 15th September 2021 11:26

Hmmmm... reboot? All the obvious ones...

Is it a laptop? Is there something on the touch pad?

I don't think it's the mouse, when I go to the Windows list of apps and click on one they all start scrolling down. Also if I click on Task View all the items scroll down so it's a PC problem not a mouse problem.
Turned it off and restarted nothing changed. I updated my Epson software yesterday which is the only change I have made. As opening Apps & features results in them scrolling down I can't click on it and reverse the changes!! AAAARRRGGGGHHHHH

If its an IR one have a look at the light sensor, mine had picked up a hair that caused it to go nuts once
Right click on start, go into device manager and then mouse, if more than one, delete the others and then try update drivers or roll back drivers.

Boot into Safe Mode and uninstall the update.

Tried those steps thanks. Reinstalled windows and I still can't stop any open item scrolling down the page.

Definitely nothing to do with the mouse unfortunately. I can feel a new PC coming on as it is now virtually unusable.

I had that, trying to remember what it was

Also if I click on a box to show preferences it opens then shuts immediately.

I've just downloaded SkyDemon and when I open the Routes section and click on a route they all just scroll until the last one is showing and I can't stop it.

What a bugger. I'm sure I had a similar problem once.

Not a stuck down arrow key on the main keyboard area or the number area?

It's not a wireless mouse is it?

Have you go to 'Settings' and mucked around with the mouse stuff? Possibly the scroll function is set way to extreme.

LowNSlow 15th September 2021 18:05

I've reset the computer, restored the computer, gone through all the stuff Nutloose provided (thanks) and it's still the same.

It's definitely not the mouse as when the thing starts up the date and time scroll down the screen even before I log in.

PC World here I come....

LowNSlow 15th September 2021 18:27

I've checked the mouse settings, done a system restore, I've reinstalled windows, I've checked the physical keys on the keyboard, changed the batteries in both the mouse and the keyboard but it's still the same.

When I check the mouse and the keyboard they are both installed twice.

Thanks for all the suggestions people but I think it's time to head off to PC World.....

Good luck LnS

Have you tried with a plug in mouse ? Seems a bit radical to dump the computer. You could dig up the garden and demolish the house while your at it.
Think I would try uninstalling keyboard and mouse in device manager, all instances, unplug keyboard and mouse, reboot, switch off, reconnect keyboard and mouse start up.
If that doesn't work, and you can't be bothered reseting the bios, torch the f*cker.
