Control Panel

I have a little might in the household who keeps deleting the temporary internet files and history (to cover their tracks).

How do I (in Windows XP Professional), without creating an administrator and others log-on, prevent all other parties from gaining access to the files.

Could it be by hiding the Control Panel somehow, remembering that in XP, access to the Control Panel is also available through the side menu of each file called up on the desktop.

and why are you trying to spy on them?

Tweak UI: Hide Control Panel Extensions

Wish you could hide some Control Panel items, to keep meddling fingers from messing with these settings? Open Tweak UI by selecting Start, All Programs, PowerToys for Windows XP, Tweak UI for Windows XP. In the tree list, select Control Panel. Scroll through the list of Control Panel extensions and deselect those you'd like to hide from view. The next time you (or anyone else) opens the Control Panel, those 'hidden' items are nowhere in sight.

(Note: Set up shortcuts to the *.cpl files before hiding them, so you'll always have access to them.)

MS Power Tools

Or use spy software, e.g.:

Spy Agent

Even with Control Panel 'hidden', is it not still possible to delete 'history' and 'temp files' via 'Tools' - 'Internet Options' ?
