Unwanted disconnection from Outlook

Whilst I had no problems with Internet connection, I experienced poor and erratic reception of emails with my previous (free except for telephone charge per minute) provider, IC Scotland. After months of dialogue (and expensive telephone calls) with them to sort out their problems, with absolutely no results, I moved to BTOpenworld Anytime, which provides me with a rock solid service.

Due to some emails still coming in on my old service, I have kept it alive, using BTOpenworld as my default service. Before, after mail had been processed through BTOpenworld, a dialogue box would appear, asking if I wished to connect to IC Scotland via the BTOpenworld server. Everything worked fine.

Unfortunately, I don’t know what I’ve done, but now, when I press Send/ Receive on my Outlook email editor, the Internet connection cuts off when the BTOpenworld process has finished. I then have to log on again to connect to IC Scotland. (The “Hang up when finished” option box is not ticked!)

Any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Select Options from the Tools Menu at the top of the screen. Click on the Connections tab and you may find the Hang up after sending and receiving box ticked. Untick this box and this should stop your internet connection disconnecting after it has checked your BT mail.

In summary:

Tools/Options/Connections/Hangup after sending and receiving

Hope this helps.

GB2,

Thanks for that- Unfortunately, yes, I've already unticked "Hangup after sending and receiving"!

Any other suggestions?

Thanks all- I've just solved the problem myself!

Went to Accounts- ICScotland- Properties- Connections- Modem- "Use the following Dial-up Networking connection", selected BTOpenworld, (my default Server), and now my incoming mail for ICScotland is received via BTOpenworld
