Cheap dial-ups in Paris?

Going to be in Paris for a couple of months or so, I was wondering if anyone knew of some reasonably priced ISP dial-up connections there?

I don't use AOL but my travelling companion does and he was able to dial a free-phone number to access AOL anywhere in France.

Then there's always the French Forum...

I can confirm what fobotcso says. Although it is pricey at £15.99 a month for unlimited access, I get pretty near faultless connections and the 'travelling' options at a reasonable hourly surcharge (charged per minute) for local dial-up numbers around the world.

Thanks for that - I've used AOL before but I can't use my regular email program (Eudora) so I was hoping for just a regular dial-up type connection.
I'll try the French forum anyway, ta! :)

I use OE with AOL, 18 - only minor 'tweaks' needed.

I use the GRIC (Global Roaming Internet Connection) available from BALPA. It's slightly complicated to set up but once you're there it's excellent. £10 set-up charge, then local phone rates anywhere in the world.

Capt. Stable and all

I have extolled the virtues of GRIC several times on this forum however a GBP10 setup fee? I am sure it can be downloaded from GRIC for free (after filling out a form).

Setup is relatively easy - just enter your ISP details and select the country/city from where one is dialing and a list of local numbers pops up. Keep the "phone book" updated (the program defaults to automatic update but this is configurable) and there we are.

Just looked at the gric.com site and couldn't see any mention of a fee.

Of course, one has to have a home ISP (mine is in HK) so maybe the tenner is for registering an ISP if you don't have one...that would make sense.

Just got back from Tokyo and used it in the hotel and local phone call charges (even from the hotel) were not expensive.

This program is blessing to me.

Best!
