MacBook: can I disable neighbours connection
MacBook Air, in France, constantly dropping my internet connection (even though it is within 3m of my Livebox) and asking me to join my neighbours connection (Orange). I know neighbours have a "booster" but know no further details; their signal strength MUCH higher than mine. Is there some way for me to disable this happening? Any help appreciated as it's driving me mad!

You should be able to remove the offending wifi network from your Preferred Networks list.
You should also try changing the channel of your access point to one that isn't being swamped by your neighbour. IIRC, the non-overlapping channels (for 802.11 b, g and n) are 1, 6 and 11. SD |
Thanks; have tried to move to an alternative channel but the Livebox router seems to be "intelligent" and swops itself back to the original channel, un-commanded (so back to same channel as neighbour).
Will now try to edit my "Preferred Networks" list; thanks for the advice. |
You can try this too :
1: Open Network Preferences --> Untick "Ask to join new networks" (While connected to your wifi/network) 2: Open Network Preferences --> Advanced --> Preferred Networks --> Drag your SSID to the top. Most likely option no #1 will solve your issue, hopefully. Good Luck! |
