HARDOCP - BBC Website Hit By Cyber Attack

How widespread are the BBC and Telegraph website problems and when are they likely to be solved?

For a couple of days we were unable to access the BBC’s website. Firefox 43.0.3 on an iMac was not able to find the address or the server was not responding. Now on occasion we can get through but only after a wait of several minutes for a page to load. Videos will not play as before as the retarded BBC still requires Flash. Have the Beeb’s website personnel not heard of HTML5 or is there some quid pro quo that is motivating this taxpayer-funded broadcaster to restrict access only to users who install various proprietary apps?

YouTube, Facebook, Netflix and others have replaced restrictive proprietary apps such as Flash and Silverlight with HTML5. What is the Beeb waiting for? Its lethargy gives an unfortunate negative perception!

Other websites we try are working fine with the exception of the Telegraph and a number of sports live streams. Videos on the Telegraph’s website will not play. Clicking on the start arrow results in a blank white space. Again the suspicion is that access has been deliberately restricted to users who install some proprietary app.

Media website designers with common sense, intelligence, competence and integrity would ensure that websites for major media operations are accessible to the widest possible proportion of the public, including the vast number who for one reason or another do not have the very latest software version or various proprietary apps.

Why would they need to practice, why would they do it to two such institutions, why publicise the target the "practice" was for.

I wonder what the true story is.
