W7 freezing
 

Anyone got any advice on this subject regarding total freezing of frame. Nothing will work apart from closing down. Various suggestions are either too little memory or an out of date BIOS. HP website states my BIOS is out of date, but why should this start recently. I`ve added no new programmes so there are no conflicts. Anything else I should look at. Freezing varies from start up to running for an hour.

Did you make any progress on this? Could possibly be a cooling issue. Are we talking about a desktop or a laptop?

I did eventually find the cause, and was due to Power Settings not being optimized. Control Panel/Power Options/Change Power Settings and then highlight High Performance. Thanks for asking, I was beginning to think there was no one out there. HP Laptop in use.

gemma10, thanks for the posting. I've changed the setting as you state on my HP, didn't know it was there!
