Best TFT Screen ?
Anyone recommend a good 'budget' TFT screen ?
I currently use a Sony Vaio laptop and find the image quality faultless, but I now need a TFT for a new base unit and find many of the cheaper models around the £300 bracket for a 15" good at displaying pictures, but lack sharpness when it comes to text. Many of the cheaper budget TFT's seem to blur text when scrolling. Is paying the extra for a Digital input worth it ? I am tempted by a Sony 15" but they are around the £450 mark ....... I notice NEC's come out well in reviews .......... anyone any first hand experience ? |
Philips 150S
Recently acquired a Philips 150S from Dabs.Com and it is an excellent clear TFT monitor, keen price at GBP 323.12 (inc VAT).
It is much better than the IIYAMA TXA3813MT that it replaced. I have also recently seen a Compaq branded TFT (TFT5015) which is not as good as the philips. Samsungs are supposed to be good too but I'll stick with the 150S |
have a gander at these
Neovo TFT's (really smart units) available in the UK from http://www.bfinteractive.tv .

The Apple Mac screens are brilliant. Knock spots off everything else I've seen. The cinema display is... well, large.
They're expensive, but I've seen some on ebay at good prices. |
Have a NEC multisync LED1530v no problem with it and excellent resolution @ 1024x768. Second choice would have been Philips 150 series. Whatever selection buy a 17" model.
Hope it helps;) |
Thanks for the replies.
Noticed Pcworld have the Philips 150s on a web only deal of £299 (£350 in the shops) ..... had a look at one and was reasonably impressed, plus it has a 3 year warranty, but still not quite as sharp as my Vaio laptop TFT screen ....... maybe I will have to lash out for a Sony panel. Heard it said that a 15" TFT compares to a 17" conventional screen, and a 17" TFT to a 19" etc ... Does seem different makes of 15" seem to offer a larger viewing area, or maybe its my imagination but the Sony's almost seem wider ? Anyone know if digital input DV-I is worth paying for ? |
