Msn Messenger
Hi
MSN messenger keeps randomly signing out, without fuss or fanfare, in the middle of conversations, for no readily apparant reason. Also, when trying to sign back in, about 40% of the time it comes up with "MSN messenger could not connect due to a problem with the internet.....make sure you are connected and try again" Sometimes it signs back on straight away, others a complete shutdown of msn and restarting of it is neccisary. I have tried the latest version from microsoft, no help there any ideas? TP |
Hi. It could be something at your end. Mine has been working ok for as long as i have had it.(2 days)..Only joking...!! I have had mine for a long time now and the only times i can not connect have been when no-one else can connect too. Do you have call waiting enabled on your phone? It could be something as simple as that really.

No, nothing like that on my fone....i think theres a bug in another program, Kazaa, cause it dont seem to happen if its not enabled...

Pipeline,
you are downloading or using your bandwidth for other programs while using MS Messenger, correct? I noticed that my messenger signs itself out when I download MP3s  . It seems that Messenger logs itself out when it finds that insufficient bandwidth is available. I do not really know if the bandwidth is solely based on your internet connection speed. I am still one of those "old-fashioned" or "poor pilots because they have to pay back a huge loan to some bandits" people that uses my phone line instead of cable. At 52,000 bps Messenger cannot handle or accept MP3 downloads. Pretty selfish, that might tell you something about the company  I haven't used Kazaa a lot, but audiogalaxy (ugh! puke!) has one useful setting called "bandwidth throttle". You can narrow your bandwidth, which is nothing more than allowing a slower download. Hope this helps! 7 7 7 7 |
I forgot to add that some hidden programs are using your internet connection. Your best bet is to download zonealarm. It is a firewall and it monitors all incoming and outcoming traffic. Kinda like ATC :D

I used to have exactly the same problem. I've just reinstalled messenger and it seems to work fine now. I'm using a different ISP phone number so that may make a difference, but I know exactly what your talking about .
So my advice - remove - reinstall |
