Restoring /updating Android tablet help
I have a cheapo Chinese Android tablet. Specs as below:
Model Q8H Processor Dualcore-A23 Android Version 4.2.2 Firmware version v2.0.9 Kernel Version 3.4.39 I have started seeing "android server has stopped" messages appearing. No big deal as it didn't seem to cause any real problems but - I'd like to do a total re-install. I've had it only 8 months and the battery life is gash. I'm aware that you get what you pay for etc! Only available options under reset are: Factory data reset & Recovery mode. I have done a factory data reset but all that does is wipe anything I have put on there. I want to totally reinstall the OS. Recovery mode gives the following options: Reboot system now Apply update from ADB (selecting that asks me to send some sort of file??) Wipe data/factory reset (already tried) Wipe cache partition Apply update from internal storage Apply update from external storage Apply update from cache I have looked in the "about" section of settings and there is no update or check for update tab. Any advice greatly appreciated. |
You cannot reinstall the OS unless you have a copy of it available. You may be able to find one and instructions on how to install it via Google. Doing that will probably not accomplish anything a factory reset wont.
As it is a cheap Chinese model you are likely looking a zero support and are stuck with the Android version installed. Which is probably why the 'system updates' tab has been removed from the 'about tablet' menu. |
