Tri-band phone with >5 day battery life between charges..... No camera, FM radio, GPS, MP3, camera, WiFi, Internet connection (except GPRS if you must), 'apps' (whatever the hell they are) or other largely pointless trivia - just voice and text. Clicks into the car's hands-free and speakers too.

All you really need from a phone, unless you're a geek or a pre-teenage girl!

Nokia 6310i - still the best there is!!

Make me the missing part of the all knowing triumvirate with a Nokia 6310i. The amount of times that it has been the victim of butterfingeritis speaks volumes for it's relative robustness. There are times when I wish that it had a few more bells and whistles, but for 95% of the time it does the job admirably. Out and about it either garners interest or pitying looks :)

Have been looking for a Nokia 6310 type that works over here.

What makes me laugh is it can take people a minute to actually get into their phone. I had a person trying to show me a photo and after 2 minutes he gave up trying to find it !!!

As its powered by 3.7V it won't be a problem for BEagle :p

Yeah, well being a Microsoft product, Windows Phone has its own set of unique vulnerabilities no doubt. :p


And anyway, only utterly moronic twats jailbreak their phones... they deserve what they get for being such idiots if they deliberately bypass one of the fundamental aspects of smartphone security design.

Also publicity seeking "researchers" should be banned from conducted research on jailbroken phones... afterall, all bets are off once you've jailbroken, so its not really much point them conducting such "research".... all it does is give said "researchers" un-necessary and un-justified publicity.

Unlikely, as it's based on the NT kernel, instead of WinCE like WP7; any bugs probably won't be "unique".
And, speaking of vulnerabilities, at least the lock screen actually, er, locks the phone.

Greetings from an (expletives deleted) who has jailbroken all his iPhones to date. Yes, it makes them more open to hackers - but since I don't use dodgy software, it's a calculated risk.

There is software that I want to run which Apple has decided I should not be allowed to use. Curiously, it was allowed for a while, then Apple elected to disable it (without warning). The choice is therefore iPhone (which I like) and jailbreak, or one of the other phone varieties that will run that software without needing anything resembling a jailbreak. I tried Android and Windowsphone and didn't like them.

As ever, broad generalisations don't work in every case. I can't see how a hacker is going to get into my iPhone - or indeed, how not being jailbroken would make any difference in my case anyway.

You can upgrade to IOS 8 beta and try it out as a developer if you like. But don't expect it to be stable until it is officially launched later in the year.

If you can't see the difference and thus don't fully comprehend the dangers involved, then you should not have jailbroken your phone.

I'm sorry Keef, what I'm saying is not a "broad generalisation" ... its a cold hard fact.

All it'll take is for a momentary lapse of your awareness ... downloading the "wrong" App ... clicking on the "wrong" link... visiting the "wrong" website. Jailbreaking a phone opens up a number of new vectors that are not present in an unbroken phone. You can't even really trust the developers of the jailbreak software itself.

Apple don't implement jails on their devices to piss you off, they implement them as a part of a rigorous security model, which has been proven to work time after time.

The choice - as explained - is jailbroken iPhone or non-iPhone. Non-jailbroken iPhone is not an option.

As the old saying goes ... it's my iPhone and I'll jailbreak it if I want to (need to).

With Mr Mixture always rely on a lecture with every single post. The font of all knowledge, be it puters, phones or probably anything that is driven by electricity and not gas.

Mixture, other people have lives and post on here occasionally for help with a problem. They are not looking for somebody to try and prove they have superior knowledge.

I do hope you are not a training Captain. I've come across a few with the same attitude.
