Upgrade CanoScan 8000F to windows 7 ?
I've been told that there are no drivers or any other means to upgrade my Cano Scan 8000F to work with Windows 7 . It worked beautifully with Windows XP. Are Dell and Canon correct or is there some fix?
You've sorted me out here before so here's hoping. Thanks. |
VueScan?
Xmod, you may like to try VueScan. It has been mentioned here before as a solution although I did have issues with it. I'm sure others will be along soon.:ok:

Canon support website says it is supported under W7 32bit.
http://www.canon-europe.com/Support/Consumer_Products/products/scanners/CanoScan_series/CanoScan_8000F.aspx 64bit, you're stuffed :-( |
I hate Vista - spawn of the devil - but actually some of the vista drivers work with '7.
Worth a try? |
64bit, you're stuffed ISTR I got the driver here: CanoScan 8000F I'm not sure if it supports all features, such as a negative or slide scanner, but I've not found anything mine can't do under Win 7. SD |
Well, my 'work around' for my Scanmate was similar to this (as link in my previous post):
With the imminent demise of Microsoft support, you could keep your eyes peeled for a cheap XP machine, and just use it to run the scanner. Transfer scanned files to your newer machine with a USB stick. So long as it never goes near the internet, there's little need to keep it updated SO LONG as you AV check the memory stick before swapping from one to the other. I knew SD would be along! |
I use an XP virtual machine in Virtualbox to use my old Canon 640U scanner with Win 7 64 bit. The scans are saved to a directory which is shared by both Win 7 and the Virtual XP machines. I tried Vuescan, but didn't like it - personal preference.

izod, to be honest I didn't like VueScan either. I don't use it, it was just a thought as a solution for the OP.
