Baffled by this web problem

My son has set his webforwarding to a site he has setup on wordpress. This works fine on a mac - type in the domain name and it opens up with the forwarded url.

But on windows there's a 504 gateway timeout or nowt. The wordpress domain works OK but not when forwarded.

Any ideas?

Any error messages like that (5xx / 4xx etc) are server side, i.e. mac, pc whatever doesn't come into it... at all, ever.

You need to focus your efforts on checking the settings on the server for whatever you have setup.

Not sure about that - he has the subdomain his_site.wordpress.com that opens in a moment. But the webforwarding from his_site.co.uk to wordpress.com only resolves with a mac. The timeout occurs with windows and android.

Do the Mac and PC use the same DNS? It can take time for the DNS entries to be updated, so the Mac might be using a DNS server that received its updates sooner than the one the PC is using.
