I suspect that the OP is referring to an advertisement that appears somewhere on the page.

Sadly, I am not able to sample the delights of such fascinating ads, due to software choices that I have made. ;)

It's from an insurance company. I tracked down their 'contact us' bit and sent them an email telling them, quite nicely, not to bother my browser with their pop-ups. Needless to say, they didn't reply but, strangely, I haven't had the pop-up since.
