Wallpaper

Any ideas on some good sites with wallpaper d/l's?
The ol' desktop needs a spruce up and any search engine usually comes up with garbage sites.
Not sure on the topic, aeroplanes, movies etc...
I'm easy;)

why being so unimagineable...take your own photos and resize them to desktop size and you have a real personalized desktop.

Pending on your resolution, 1024x768 or 800x600 (you are not using the 640x480 anymore???), are the sizes you are looking for.

Almost all graphic programs have also tiles with them...called textures, you can use them as well. You can also create your own website, which you do not need to put on the web, you load it as your desktop instead.

There are millions of ideas around, spend some time being creative and you will enjoy the new look even more

Fl310,
Wasn't planning on being quite so elaborate, just the odd pic of Charles Bronson beating the bejesus out of a bad guy, a supersonic 172 or maybe just pammys hooters:eek: ;) .
Running 8*600 by the way (naturally).
Any other sites out there?

For my desktop wall paper, i usualy have something thats topical on it. Sometimes its a picture of my favourite football(soccer for those who don't understand) team if they are doing well or anything like that.
At the moment, it the Astraeus 737 at Gatwick because they recently flew for the first commercial flight etc.....(i am not a spotter by the way.......just a topical thing thats all.)
Who knows what it will be next week.? Just use a bit of imagination..... :)

If ya gonna use fancy wallpaper do yourself a favour and don't spoil it with those ugly blocks of colour around the Icon captions.

Goto http://home.attbi.com/~jguerette/transparent/ and download Transparent4 (or search Google for "Guerette transparent") [Jay Guerette is the smart guy who wrote this little gem] Won't mess up any system and doesn't use resources. Turns the text background transparent (choose your text colour wisely, depending on the predominant colour of the image that you are using and where your icons live on it.

And while you're at it, keep icons where you put 'em with Mario Knok's Iconsaver 2.1 from http://www.core-project.com/iconsaver/index.html also small stable and bug-free.

I know some of them are a bit trite and sticky, but http://www.lollie.com/ has some good free "inspirational" wallpapers. I liked http://www.lollie.com/gallery/stormy.html

Try Skyflash for military aviation. Some good Red Arrows ones there.

Just a tip, if you want speed, just use a plain black background, unless you have a really fast PC. I had nice 1024x768 images, but changed, and it is very noticeable. if you click on the minimise button, there is no pause for example. Other things run faster too. But its only a personal choice, and its boring.
