Outlook (MS Office10) Receive but not send?
My sister away from home, here in Oz, configured to BT Internet no problem but can only receive, , via my home wireless network, which is Telstra/Bigpond and which she is configured to, but cannot send. Have tried changing a few settings, unclicking boxes like 'secure log in required' or 'My outgoing server requires authentication', (which I thought had worked for me before), but no joy. Any advice/suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.

given its a temporary problem while she's travelling, the easiest option is for her to abandon BT's POP3 servers and instead log into Yahoo's web-mail portal, using her full BT e-mail address and password as the logon credentials
if she really wants to use POP then follow these instructions to use the Yahoo servers, not the BT servers Mail Classic Help | - SLN3218 - Receiving email in another email program |
Thanks Milo, it is the sending that is the problem, receive is OK but, as you suggest, simply use the Yahoo site or www.mail2web.com Cheers.

POP / SMTP I was simply using POP figuratively to define the type of connection. She should be able to connect through the Yahoo servers....unless your ISP is blocking the common ports for third party web servers. It does happen - for instance Orange do it

para - it might be simpler to get her to use your smtp server for sending?

Thanks all. Have decided to use Yahoo as computer is on it's way back to UK.
