Fecund Fonts!

The title says it all. I have an over abundance of fonts on my PC and would like to remove a few hundred that never get used.

I am aware that one or two of my programs require certain fonts to operate properly. Where/how can I obtain a list of these fonts so that I dont remove them?
I tried Microsoft, but I cannot nail it.
