Maplins are taking orders for a complete bundle for under 70 quid.
Out of stock until the end of September.

RS are quoting 13 weeks. :ugh:

Either they're selling like hot cakes or the rate of manufacture is poor.

Both I think.

I was down at CPC's shop/warehouse in Preston this morning (part of Farnell - the other distributor) and they had small signs to the effect that "the Raspberry Pi is here.."
Not sure what that means in reality, but could be worth checking

edit - just checked the website and it says "next delivery 31st August"
However that doesn't say how big the queue is...

Mine (ordered long ago) arrived months ago, but I've not got round to doing anything with it yet.

I got one, managed to get it working with an old TV set (try doing that with anything else on the market!). Working on hooking up an old laptop display panel through HDMI, getting WiFi working - should take me until Christmas or so.

What do you mean, what am I going to *do* with it?

unclenelli 1st September 2012 12:19

I have one on order since 04 Aug (due delivery 01 Dec!) and am thinking of getting 2 more.

1. Turn Lounge TV into Internet TV
2. Install in car
3. Xmas pressie for 9-y-o neice as a home-based PC comparable to school based IT for homework etc

I've got a couple, one is being used as a learning tool for Python and general Linux type stuff.

The other is awaiting the arrival of a Gert board so I can get into some electronics tinkering.

Order them way back in March and received them in the first week of June.

They have their foibles, USB is a bit of a dark art, but the foundation is working on it and things have been improving. RaspberryPi.org forums are useful for information.

The MagPi is a nice online magazine, very reminiscent of the sorts of magazines that were around in my ZX-81 and Atari 600XL days. Contains project walk throughs and listings.

unclenelli 2nd September 2012 12:40

MagPi

I just hope MagPi has the same typos as PCWorld Mag (the one which had cartoon about Lady Clair Sinclive) which I used to buy when I had a Vic20. I used to love spending hours & hours typing in a prog, only to find it didn't work and then spend more hours debugging it.

That's how I learnt programming.

Ha ha ha - a great little device.

I want one of these things - Great stuff: I suppose I will have to wait months for it though.

Just ordered a Pi from Charlie Papa Charlie, they had 20 in stock 30 mins ago so I should get delivery this week.

Seems that production is catching up with demand at last.

Yep
Farnell / CPC have contracted a UK plant to make them. I think its the Sony site in south Wales. They've improved the board slightly as well
