Updates driving me mad
For the past few weeks my computer running W7 home has been trying and failing to load these updates
http://i225.photobucket.com/albums/d...es/updates.jpg I have tried it whilst working or on shutdown, even if I un-tick the first few it fails. Any suggestions? |
.net is a known MS update issue, XP and W7. Google it. I think the fix is uninstall/re-install but Ms will tell you.
|
try doing 1 at a time, first the updates, then the security updates. That used to work ont servers I looked after
|
I think there is a fix if you go to Microsoft site, find MrFixit and choose windows update error. Program will autorun and solved this same problem for me.
|
A generic fix for about 50% of Windows Update problems is to do the following:
1) Go into Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services 2) Right-click "Windows Update" service and choose STOP 3) Navigate to C: \Windows 4) Right-click the "SoftwareDistribution" folder and choose "delete" 5) Once deleted, go back to the Windows Update service and choose START :ok: |

I'll have a go when I get back form a holiday, using a netbook with XP here so no issues

"Q: If I have 4.5 can I kill 4?"
Don't think so - I think 4.5 requires 4 as a prerequisite Don't take my word on that though - I may well be wrong |
they all follow in order
each previous version is a prerequisite to the next, until they are embedded into a version of windows, and are then included in a windows base install

If you feel you must have updates, then fairynuff, but when I got my XP SP2 machine wot I'm typing on now, one of the first things I did was turn them off.
In eight years it's never had an update (M$ variety) and it seems to be surviving......... |

A man who's had the pox for eight years can be said to be "surviving". However he's ill behind the facade, and sharing the pox with all he meets and socialises with. Until one day he dies. |
I've never been accused of passing anything on.
Until one day he dies. |
