Is Google+ like F*cebook?

I mean not what it says about it in the net, but does it start sending you friends and stuff like Fb is said to do?

Farcebewk gets to be intrusive and is a pain in the arse; if OK for keeping in touch with mates, passing on interesting articles or such & sharing family &c photographs.
Google+ is used by about 10 geeks and no one else - it will die a death.

Google+ would be big if people used it, but Facebook have well and truly got the market.

I don't use G+ purely because none of my friends did. But yes they are meant to be the same thing with a bit of a added mix of Twitter too.

Google spent so much time and money on G+ and it's eventually going to close or get bought by Facebook.

:D - ok, and can I conclude that if I join it bec. a friend asked (to see the photos of her lot), it won't be getting hundreds of 'friends' and whatnot, as it's only G employees who eat doughnuts there?

As far as I understand it, G+ is still invitation-only ... so the risk of you getting uninvited companions is somewhat limited. Although I think once that barrier is removed, the spammers may start trying to get onboard again.

G+ is obviously positioned as a competitor to Facebook. However whilst Facebook is a self-sustaining platform, G+ is more of a tool for Google to use to encourage uptake and stickiness of users to the overall Google platform (search, docs, mail, youtube).

Although I don't have a personal account on either platform , my understanding is that G+ gives you more granular control over the sharing of your information, and has more focus on productivity features.

Problem with Google is, get yourself banned from any part of it then your banned from everything. So any perceived infraction that gets you banned from G+ (for example, Google thinks you're using a fake name) can get you banned from everything including Gmail and Google Docs. And good luck finding a human contact to try to resolve the issue. Google doesn't do customer service.

I was on Google+ but zapped my account last week. There are LOTS of people on there (not just Google employees). Once you are in the circles of a few, every morning brings another batch of "friend requests" from people you never heard of.

Nothing wrong with that per se, but the crop of US politics posts and biker chat left me reeling.

Google+ just changed the layout of the website, dozens outraged.
