I wonder if it is to do with posters local timezones being sequenced in order as with the sites, so if you are running a timezone say -1 hrs from the sites, you appear in front of a post that was done on the sites time.

Confused, you should be... :8

Edit:-

Forget that, site says I posted this @ 15:27 and in UK it is 23:41

green granite 25th November 2011 14:37

I suspect that one of their servers has reverted to or has been set to PST which is UTC -8hrs

RTN11 25th November 2011 15:43

When I tried to search it told me my token had expired.

Where do you buy a new token? the same place you get a TV licence?

hellsbrink 25th November 2011 15:46

Yeah, the forum has had another brainfart. Read http://www.pprune.org/computer-inter...amp-fairy.html for any info that might appear.

green granite 25th November 2011 15:49

Umm, confused !!

This forum requires that you wait 5 seconds between searches. Please try again in 29100 seconds.
29100 seconds = 8 hrs~ish, the time difference between PST and UTC. See the time stamp fairy thread below.

Mike-Bracknell 25th November 2011 16:09

Either that or a process on the forum has set a number of people's profiles to PST from UTC/GMT?

Spitoon 25th November 2011 16:18

See the time stamp fairy thread below.
Or above - as it is on my screen at the moment.

11Fan 25th November 2011 16:34

Funny, all of the posts here are showing PST. What the hell is going on... er... wait..... I'm on PST.....

..... nevermind

I know, happening it is, all over the site, I thought I would reply, but I might as well pre empt you... :8

Akali Dal 25th November 2011 22:13

It can't happen, impossible with all the safeguards!

I am sure the webmaster and the techies are going to say " it can't be, not possible with all our fail safe systems, yada, yada, yada " just like the Airbus development engineers and pilots.

Flash2001 25th November 2011 22:14

Perhaps some posts are done with superluminal neutrinos!

After an excellent landing etc...

I don't buy that. I think this audience is so diverse that not everyone uses the exact same browser on the exact same type of computer.

I will believe that there are multiple servers handling the data, and that one of them is using the wrong time zone conversion.

On a Jetblast thread, (Where in the World?) I posted once, then a few minutes later posted again, but it reset the latter time to four hours earlier, bumping it up.

It's confusing to read comments on something that hasn't been posted yet.

DC-ATE 25th November 2011 23:45

I'm posting this at 1945 EST [0045Z] just to see what happens. It should be Post #7.

That is roughly an eight hour delay - about the same as London-Los Angeles? Could the forum be running to West Coast time?

Gulfstreamaviator 26th November 2011 04:12

post 9 in Dubai its 9am

I have made several posts this morning, and used the sequence header as above.

All posts have been sequenced correctly, but this might be because there have been no recent posts withing the CA time zone -wherever time zone.

More importantl is is the smell cheker option...needed please....

Dawler: your timing stamp shows: 26th 05h18....

I'm eagerly awaiting the crippled aviation comparison between the vBulletin PPRUNE software and something that's barely airborne.
I knew there were a few bugs in the vBulletin forum program in general, but I was under the impression that newer versions sorted out the bugs.
Perhaps the newer versions of vBulletin are only compounding error problems in the program, instead of eliminating them?
One thing is for sure. No other forum would offer a test of reliability and stability as PRRUNE does, with its humungous number of forum users at any one time.
I'm simply surprised that the program doesn't break down more often.

green granite 26th November 2011 12:45

I don't think it's got anything to do with the vBulletin forum program, it's most likely to be a clock setting in one of the servers, which as I said in post #42 is set to PST.

Saab Dastard 26th November 2011 13:02

I suspect it is rather more complex than just a time setting on a webserver.

Possibly something to do with management of session state over hardware load balancers, web servers and database server.

Mmm...better ask Homunculus about that guy.

Oh, FF's sake, this means nothing here. It's supposed to be after Slasher's post.

No, using the Reply in the post box didn't work.

management of session state over hardware load balancers, web servers and database server
- aka SNAFU:D. Basically what I said to Mrs B this morning over breakfast. She said she thought it was more likely that the server does not use burst/shared ram through multiple machines, as well as individual CPU cores, so we agreed to differ and did the washing up.

IGh 26th November 2011 16:09

Thread disappears Friday 25Nov

Just to log a thread-disappear:

On Friday morning, in the Tech' forum, there was a thread asking about PAINT on large aircraft. At about 18z, I added two links to Boeing's _Aero_ e-zine (discussing "coatings") -- which should have been about the THIRD slot. INSTEAD, it appeared as the TOP slot (with an erroneous time-stamp). Naturally, when I attempted to relocate that message to the lower (later) position, THE WHOLE THREAD DISAPPEARED.

Sorry -- to the man looking for data on aircraft coatings.

[And now this message was initially returned with the diagnostic about a time-stamp: here's a second attempt to "submit reply".]

This is not the only aviation site that has problems after (upgrade):{
Perhaps leaving things that work alone is a thought.
To meany dam rabbits as well

Gomrath 27th November 2011 00:32

This is not the only aviation site that has problems after (upgrade)
There has been no upgrade.
Being Thanksgiving , no changes were being made and sadly no support till Monday.

I'm glad someone else is having the same problem as it's driving me bonkers.

Perhaps it's time prune upgraded to v4 of vbulletin ;)

Apparently IB were going to do so, but realised it was even more bug-ridden than this version.

I kid you not.

A Pandy 28th November 2011 02:24

I have seen the same problem. In the end I had to exit the site and re-enter in order to post.
Rather annoying !

BEagle 28th November 2011 07:29

Perhaps if the advertisers were to say "Fix it or we f*** off", the 'west coast dudes' might, like, fix it, man.....

axefurabz 28th November 2011 15:47

Advertisers? This site has adverts? They're well hidden mate!!

Mach Two 28th November 2011 15:56

The fault's intermittent, but looks like it's fixed now.

Hang on, no it's not.

11Fan 28th November 2011 16:18

It is just past 0900 Monday morning here in sunny Southern California and these guys are just coming back to work. Maybe it will get sorted out shortly.

Saab Dastard 28th November 2011 18:03

Allegedly it was fixed yesterday.
