Excel 2007 cell selection problem
When I click on a cell to select it normally only one cell is selected, but sometimes multiple cells are selected by clicking one cell. Which is a pain when trying to copy formulae. the multiple cells are a six rows deep and varying rows wide.
A single cell can be selected by using the arrow key. It doesn't happen on all sheets on the workbook, and seemed to start after I copied a block of cells. It's driving me nuts, any suggestions? Thanks merch |
What view are you in? Page Layout can cause this snag. Try Normal View.
If it says EXT or Extend Selection in the bottom left corner of Excel, then it is in Extended mode - try tapping the F8 key once. The other snag may be your mouse. Is it a wireless one? The mouse may be mis-reading the cell's co-ordinates. (Is it a Logitech?) You might also try moving the mouse up a row whilst holding down the left button. That may deselect and give you the selection you want. Let us know! |

Thanks for the reply I'm in page view, in normal view the problems goes, but comes back in page view It doesn't say extended in the LH corner, tried pressing F8, no difference. It's a wired mouse HP as is the computer, Tried holding the LH button and moving up a row, but that just changes the size of the selected area, as if you are dragging the borders, the curser is outside the selected area when this is being done. Hope the above makes sense. At least I can work in normal view now! Thanks Merch |
