The pprune forum "pager" seems to be a bit broken.
The pprune forum "pager" seems to be a bit broken.
I have been reading the af447 thread (thread 5) in the tech log. Quite often the page list at the top and bottom displays an extra page that is not available. For example a short while ago the last message available on page 65 was 1299 and yet page 66 was shown on the page list. When page 66 was chosen page 65 gets displayed again (which is good I guess). In this case it was only two messages short of needing to display page 66 in the list however I have previously noticed larger discrepancies. This minor problem has been apparent for some months and was not apparent for several years previously. I use Chrome (12.0.742.100 beta), I am usually logged in, and all pprune settings are default as far as I recall, 20 posts per page. Let's log the behaviour:- 2 Aug 2011 14:59 :: last post 1304 on page 66 - last page in page list 66 2 Aug 2011 15:12 :: last post 1306 on page 66 - last page in page list 66 2 Aug 2011 15:28 :: last post 1309 on page 66 - last page in page list 66 2 Aug 2011 16:05 :: last post 1313 on page 66 - last page in page list 67** Page 66 url http://www.pprune.org/tech-log/45687...no-5-a-66.html Page 67 link (right click copy link address) http://www.pprune.org/tech-log/45687...no-5-a-67.html This actually brings up page 66 - http://www.pprune.org/tech-log/45687...no-5-a-66.html Mouse hover pop up info box shows page 66 "showing results 1,301 to 1,320 of 1,322" page 67 "showing results 1,321 to 1,322 of 1,322" I get the same result in Firefox (not logged in). It would surprise me if this was anything at my end. Hope this is of some use to you. |
This has been covered before.
It's a bug, they know it, still waiting on a fix. |
Yes, known bug.
Seems to be a problem with non-default setting for number of posts/page in your user CP. I switch from 40 to 30 as a workaround (and back when it screws up again). SD |

I've noticed this too, particularly for long threads where there have been a number of posts deleted, and wonder if the total count is not subtracting when posts are deleted.

So I've put it down to moderators playing with long threads and people just happening to go to read them at the wrong time. wonder if the total count is not subtracting when posts are deleted. SD |
