It might just be because I live in Spain but just thought I'd ask if anyone is having trouble with bbc.co.uk lately?

For several days now the site seems to be unavailable...

Error message reads

'Firefox can't find the server at news.bbc.co.uk.'

Don't know if it's any help whatsoever, but I just popped in there using the link you provided and it worked fine.

Dell Studio Laptop, Windows Vista, Internet Explorer 8, from Southern California.

Still wont connect from here, two different computers one Vista, one XP, both same result.
Not just firefox either but IE as well...
Ah well!
Just have to go with Yahoo news instead!

Perhaps Spain has got fed up with the BBC's distortion of the truth and flights of fancy that they pass of a news nowadays, that they are censoring the site. :E

How the once respected intitution has faded. :(

Also in Spain, using Firefox, happens frequently on starting FF, BBC News is my home page.
Try Again always works for me, so far.

Didn't happen with older versions of FF, happened every time with FF4 beta.

With this Win7, SRWare Iron, machine, typing the above into the address bar gives me the BBC News site under the following address

BBC News - Home

Maybe time to change some bookmarks?

or bbc.co.uk/news

Tried and failed...several times!

The BBC site has been acting strange with me as well for the last few days.
Sometimes it loads up ok, other times get a page saying 'ooops did you mean.... '

Very strange, only the BBc site :suspect:

I googled 'bbc website down spain' and found someone reporting a similar problem. The advice given was to clear their browser cache and they got the beeb back next day.

Still fails to load in FF and IE, I think its a Spain thing... maybe green granite has a point!

Thanks for the topic folk - I have had trouble getting Radio 2 on a computer since the week before last but no trouble on others I tried - assumed some security block had been put in place so gave up - just re-opened Radio 2 on said computer & it is working fine now - weird

I use the BBC several times a day and have never had one incident of the site being down - including today. Mind you I am almost in line of sight with the tx. Good luck.

There have been brief problems reported in the media today.
